FM 21-76 US ARMY SURVIVAL MANUAL

This is an excellent source of information on how to stay alive in any number of situations. Anything from being stranded in your car during a blizzard, to a terrorist nuclear attack, you would be glad to know the material in this manual. Here is a link to the PDF file for the manual...

http://www.ar15.com/content/manuals/FM21-76_SurvivalManual.pdf

Read it, get familiar with the skills and concepts outlined in the manual. Download it, so you can memorize it. There is much specific information contained in the manual, from how to build a survival shelter, to how to fabricate your own survival tools, to identifying poisonous plants and animals. Buy it. Get yourself a hard-copy of the manual to keep in your car or your "Bug Out Bag." Chances are, that in an actual event where you would use this information, you won't have electricity to run your computer and access this file. Even if you have done a pretty good job memorizing it, much of it will probably be forgotten by the time you might actually need it. The brain has a way of making unused information go stale. So skim through it again from time to time.

Climbing Descent Gone Wrong

The ultimate death stare: New RAF helmet allows pilots to shoot down enemy jets by looking at them

* Pilot can glance at an aircraft he wants to fire a missile at by using his mind

It looks no more high-tech than any other fighter pilot helmet.

CARRIER: 1 Ship, 5000 Stories

Stumbled across this DVD at the library. One of the best documentaries I have seen in a long time. Not a propaganda film at all. It really shows a diverse mindset toward the mission, and life in the Navy aboard an aircraft carrier. A little gritty, without being too offensive, showing the bad along with the good. Hope you enjoy.

CARRIER is a character-driven, edge-of-your-seat, nonfiction drama and a once-in-a-lifetime total immersion in the high-stakes world ofÊa nuclear aircraft carrier. CARRIER follows a core group ofÊfilm participants aboard the USS Nimitz, from the admiral of theÊstrike groupÊto the fighter pilots to the youngest sailors, as they navigate personal conflicts around their jobs, families, faith, patriotism, love, the rites of passage and the war on terror.

'Terminator' Hunter-Seeker No Longer Sci-Fi

The Department of Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) has been extremely interested in robotic and cyber technology over the past few years and has now contracted Boston Dynamics to make the first Terminator-like robot fully functional.

When will we reach a point where robots become self-aware?

The Answer is — We already have, as reported in the article “Army Achieves ‘Skynet’ —Self-Aware Decision Making Network“

Boston Dynamics (the makers of the FEMA ‘Big Dog’) are contracted to design a few items for DARPA.  A robotic chetah that can outrun the fastest man, zig-zag, turn, maneuver, and stop on a dime is in the works as we speak.

Boston Dynamis said;
“It will be able to zig-zag and take tight turns in order to chase and evade…. it will also be able to make sudden stops and could end up with a tail.”
